Shoes



In track and cross country you need some special shoes that will help you perform to your maxium abbilties. The shoe of the left is a traing shoe. It is the shoes you train ing. The one on the right is a racing shoes. Training shoes are what you should start of with buying.

Encouragement


When you run you may find that you can get discouraged. This is bad. When you are discouraged you do not perform at your best.
A way to get encouaraged is to think of the goals that you have set for you self. You may be in pain now, but when you are done you will feel much better.

Famous Runner- Steve Prefontaine

Steve Prefontaine is probably the greatest distance runner that ever lived. He accomplished so much as a runner from high school through the Olympics. He set many records many which are still records today. He is a major inspiration for many runners today. He died in a car crash on May 30th, 1975.

Working Out


Working out is the main way that you will be able to get faster. The workouts that you may do depends a lot on what event(s) you will compete in. If you are running sprints or relays you will probably want to a lot of short quick intervals with the same distance in a recovery jog. Ex. If you run the 100m, the what you would do is sprint a 200m at your max then jog a 200m. Do this over and over and you will find that your speed will increase.

If you run the longer distance like the 1600m, 3200m, 800m, then you will want to do speed intervals with longer distances, with long distance runs. This means you would do speed workout one day, and then a distance run the next. You repeat this until you start racing. When you start racing then your main focus should be for speed.

Welcome to my blog. Here you will enter the exciting world of High School Track and Cross Country. Here you will learn what you will need to know about these two sports. This blog will mostly talk aboutTrack because I think that Track is more exciting than Cross-Country. Track is a sport that consist of running, jumping, and throwing events, where athletes push themselves to run faster, jump higher, throw farther. Man isn't it exciting. I love this sport.
